Walkers, 1986-97

2151-1: Robo Raider, 1997. Walking robot mech with articulated arms ending in grasping pincers and a laser chainsaw. The head detaches to form a small flyer. This is the first set in a new Space theme: RoboForce.

That’s it for the 9 LEGO Space sets (1 Spyrius + 8 Exploriens) from 1996. This will be the final complete year of sets I will build. I’ll do some from 1997 and a few from 1998 but not all of them. Nah, I’ll be completing all LEGO Space sets through 1999.

The Exploriens sets included alien fossil tiles printed in red, white, and blue. They would reveal different patterns when viewed through transparent red or blue plastic. (The tiles were also magnetic.)

Exploriens, 1996 (8 sets)

Space bases 1993-96

Large spaceships 1993-96

Explorien Starship vs Cosmic Fleet Voyager from 1986

6982-1: Explorien Starship, 1996. Large drop-nose spaceship features a detachable rover, two robotic arms, a telescope, twin rockets, sensor dish, three astronauts and a droid. This was the largest LEGO spaceship yet released. My favorite bit is the rover.
