6825-1: Cosmic Comet, 1985. Small blue flyer. I like the reverse swept wings.

6807-1: Space Sledge, 1985. Another astronaut with hover chair – this time in yellow with a small robot companion. Simple and fun.

6806-1: Surface Hopper, 1985. Red astronaut in a hover chair. Thrusters galore! I ❤️ these tiny sets.

6805-1: Astro Dasher, 1985. Small flyer with blue astronaut. ‘Nuff said.

Some of the new parts for 1985. Levers and robot arms finally enable vehicles sans steering wheels. Hoses provide curved organic shapes.

1968-1: Unnamed, 1985. Holy hoses! Quirky modular spaceship. Detachable rear module carries a brick-built robot and a small rover.

… and that’s it for the 8 LEGO Space sets from 1984. Up next: 1985!

Inter-Galactic Command Base was the refresh of 1980′s Beta-I Command Base. Many interesting parts debuted over the 4 years between them.

6971-1: Inter-Galactic Command Base, 1984. Computers, sensors, opening roof for rocket repairs, rocket, scooter, spaceship, and three astronauts. 💯

Robot Command Center: because who wouldn’t want a space base shaped like a top-heavy robot on skates with side beaks and arms on the legs?
