6848-1: Strategic Pursuer, 1988. Primitive mech with arms jointed only at the elbows and legs only at the ankles. Still, it looked cool.

6848-1: Strategic Pursuer, 1988. Primitive mech with arms jointed only at the elbows and legs only at the ankles. Still, it looked cool.

6830-1: Space Patroller, 1988. Small swing-wing space plane with boosters that double as twin robot companions!

6828-1: Twin-Winged Spoiler, 1988. Is it a walker or a flyer? Either way this small Futuron set came with plenty of cool parts.

6770-1: Lunar Transporter Patroller, 1988. Articulated truck with flashing lights and siren sounds powered by the big 9V battery box in the rear.

That’s (finally) it for LEGO Space 1987: 16 sets spanning 3 subthemes. Biggest year yet. Next stop: 1988.

Just for kicks an expanded track layout for the Futuron monorail that my son pieced together today.

That’s the first wave of 5 Futuron sets, but I’m still not done with 1987. Next up, my personal favorite sub-theme: Blacktron.

Sliding/rotating loading dock, implemented via another Technic rack winder. 💙 those large transparent quarter dome pieces.

Freight elevator function implemented using a Technic rack winder.

6990-1: Monorail Transport System, Futuron 1987. Two bases, a monorail with vertical ramps, cargo crates, loader vehicle, five astronauts, etc. 👍👍💙
