Osterfjord selfie
Norway Trip, Day 9: Bergen. 3 hour boat cruise up the 27 km long Osterfjord, followed by shopping for rain gear in Bryggen (old town) and a visit to the Bergen Aquarium. The aquarium serves the best fish soup. It rained the entire day.
Norway Trip, Day 8: Final day of our 6 day / 5 night, almost 2,500 km cruise along the coast from Kirkenes to (rainy) Bergen. Visited the fish market (where I tasted whale). Walking tour of Bryggen (Bergen’s old town) topped off by Norwegian tapas (including reindeer tartare).
Norway Trip, Day 7: Walking tour of Trondheim Old Town and Nidaros Cathedral in the morning, and a demonstration of how to filet a salmon and a lecture on Norse mythology in the afternoon as we continue our way southward along the coast.
Norway Trip, Day 6: Stormy weather overnight made for rough seas. We crossed the Arctic Circle heading south. It was marked with a globe on a lonely islet. (I had a ceremonial spoonful of cod liver oil.) Rainy, windy, cloudy and cold weather today.
Vesterålen Portait mode selfie
Norway Trip, Day 5: Bus tour of the Vesterålen Islands in the morning, Hurtigruten ship museum at Stokmarknes in the afternoon, navigating the Raftsundet strait at sunset. Bad weather kept us from visiting the narrow Trollsfjord and Svolvær (where I had hoped to do a night hike).
Norway Trip, Day 4: Beach cleaning in Hammerfest, the self-proclaimed northernmost town in the world, and a midnight concert at the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø
