Gornergrat selfie

Today we made a day trip to Zermatt (near the Matterhorn), where we took a mountain train up to Gornergrat (3000m). Did a short alpine hike then back to Saas Fee to swim after dinner. Here are a couple panoramas taken from Gornergrat.

Matterhorn, not chocolate

World’s Biggest Chocolate Matterhorn!

Fondue is never out of season for us. This one is with génépi (wormwood) and alpine herbs. (In my mind that makes it the absinthe of fondues!)

The Mushroom Houses of Saas-Fee. Why are these cabins elevated on short mushroom shaped posts?

In Saas-Fee for a four-day weekend. It’s low season and the place is practically deserted. Feels like we have the whole place to ourselves.

The rear module of the Deep Freeze Defender features a garage door roof that when you slide it open lifts a small scooter into launch position.

Raising the roof on Deep Freeze Defender’s mid-section also lifts its rocket into firing position.
