UFO, 1997-98 (11 sets)

6902-1: Space Plane, 1998. This small flyer piloted by a red droid was the final UFO set.

2543-1: Spacecraft, 1998. This small hovercraft comes with a single red alien, twin lasers, and not much else.

These are the 13 LEGO Space sets from 1997 (4 RoboForce + 9 UFO). Up next: 1998 and the final Space subtheme that I will cover.

The front section of Interstellar Starfighter has an almost cardioid shape: 28 studs wide by 24 studs deep with a corner radius of 14 studs in the front but 10 in the rear. So half circle / half rounded rect.

Interstellar Starfighter’s fiber optics system in action

The fiber optics system had 8 lights and used a (very noisy) micro motor to cycle through the lights (only one would illuminate at a time). It was driven by the same 9V battery box that had been used in Space sets since 1986 (but this was its final appearance).
