Via Engiadina, Stage 3: Celerina – Bever. Some really nice high alpine areas in the first half. 10.8km, 227m ascent, 2h47m, 10°C ⛅️
Panoramaweg Ägerital: 27.7km, 997m ascent/descent, 6h44m, 7°C 🌥️. Our feet were killing us but we made it all the way around the lake and back home. I set all kinds of records on my watch today.
I have one more day off before I return to work on Tuesday. I’m going to try to hike the entire panorama trail around our valley in one go. I’m not sure the exact distance but it’ll be in the range of 28-32km. I don’t think I’ve ever hiked more than 20km in a day.
I never thought that I’d be kayaking in a pre alpine lake located at 723m altitude in Switzerland on January 1, but here we are. Air temp was 13°C but the water is still a chilly 5°C.
Winter hike Wengen to Wengneralp: 6.8 km, 700m ascent, 2h:30m, 2°C ☁️. I opted out of skiing today due to blisters on my shins from my ski boots. View of the Jungfrau from Wengneralp.
Today was my first day on the slopes this season. That’s the Eiger in the background.
Views of Rigi and the Mythens as seen from the Rossberg. Today’s weather was much better for a hike. The fresh Lebkuchen (gingerbread) at Hürital-Alp was delicious.
Took advantage of the day off work to hike up the Rossberg to the Wildspitz again. Visibility was crap and it was blowing snow up top, but it was great to be outside. Also great to go inside and have coffee and soup up top before heading back.
View of the Ägerital, or Ägeri valley, where I live.
