Panorama from today’s hike to Rigi Scheidegg: 9.1km, 900m ascent, 3h20m, 21°C 🌤.

Used the Juneteenth holiday to hike up to Raten this morning. I love Spring wildflowers.

…and of course as soon as I post that there’s a service outage!
Yesterday was Dreikönigstag, which in Switzerland means you share a sweet bread, the Dreikönigskuchen. One of the pieces has a plastic wiseman baked inside and whoever gets it is king for the day. A paper crown is included. It was so tasty yesterday that we bought another today.

As a palate cleanser for the soul after a late night of doom-scrolling yesterday’s events at the U.S. Capitol, I went for an early morning snowshoe hike.

This was my Christmas gift to myself. Hits lots of nostalgia notes for me and is also just a large and interesting build. I believe this is the largest LEGO set I’ve ever had. About two-thirds of the way through building it together with my son.

I’m probably going to jinx myself posting this, but today marks 18 consecutive days of getting outdoors to exercise (something I struggle with at times). Mostly snowshoeing with some hiking and cross-country skiing mixed in. It helps that we have snow.

It’s kind of hard for me to believe that this was our tenth year opening this calendar. This was the second year shooting with an iPhone 11 Pro Max (still a great camera). Due to the pandemic, these were all shot entirely at home in Switzerland.
