The fiber optics system had 8 lights and used a (very noisy) micro motor to cycle through the lights (only one would illuminate at a time). It was driven by the same 9V battery box that had been used in Space sets since 1986 (but this was its final appearance).
Month: July 2019
6979: Interstellar Starfighter
6979-1: Interstellar Starfighter, 1997. Large UFO spaceship has sort of a Star Trek vibe to it. The half saucer in the rear detaches via magnets to form its own small fighter. The only Space set to feature a fiber optic lighting system. Comes with two alien pilots and a droid.
Cherry pie
Summertime in Zug means fresh cherries. My son has baked us two pies this season already. I’m hoping to get in at least one more pie before the cherries are gone.
Alien Avenger geometry
Alien Avenger is not a perfect circle but rather a 32 x 32 stud rounded rectangle with a corner radius of 14 studs. (I was proud that my son noticed this!) 🤓
6975: Alien Avenger
6975-1: Alien Avenger, 1997. Large flying saucer comes with detachable mini saucer, small and medium-sized rovers, magnetic crane arm, dual forward blasters, three aliens, and a droid. The mini saucer docks via magnets. Easily my favorite UFO set.
6915: Warp Wing Fighter
6915-1: Warp Wing Fighter, 1997. Looks like a mashup of a flying saucer and an X-Wing. Comes with an alien pilot and a droid. Lots of big printed parts.
Rosenlaui
Lovely 3-day weekend hiking in the Rosenlaui valley in the Bernese Oberland. Can’t wait to go back!
3D Printing
Moving the 3D printer into my office seemed like a good idea until I realized that my son would be running it all day long. Thank goodness for noise-canceling headphones!
Stand up paddle
It’s been too hot to hike recently, but a couple weeks ago we bought a stand up paddle board, so when it’s hot we can do this instead. My favorite thing now is paddling through lily pads.
Happy 4th!
Grilling corn and drinking beer on this 4th of July (in Switzerland).
