Santorini cliff cat

Greece trip, day 12: Ferry to Santorini and then a tour of the island’s highlights. Beautiful views along the caldera and picturesque white buildings with occasional blue highlights. Also unusually green from recent rains.

TIL that if you’re not buying “extra virgin olive oil”, then you’re probably buying oil that was chemically extracted using hexane and other industrial techniques and that is largely devoid of nutritional value.

Greece trip, day 11: Final day in Crete. Toured an olive oil-producing estate, lunch in Rethymno Old Town, visited the Venetian sea fortress in Heraklion.

Greece trip, day 10: Archaeological Museum of Crete and then the Minoan Palace at Knossos (complete with Sir Arthur Evan’s ham-fisted early 20th century recreations).
